NQ Radio Announcers
Al Kirton – Announcer
Since the age of 20, Al has been part of the radio industry working at stations 4VL, 4CD, 4RO, 2ST, 2LT, 3BO, 4ZR, 4VL (again) 4KZ, KOOL FM, 4AY, KIK FM & 4AM.
Al’s former roles have included announcer, salesman, sales promotion manager, sales manager and part owner. He is a member of the CRA Quarter Century Club, Institute of Company Directors, Wireless Institute Australia, Innisfail Baptist Family Centre and is a licenced Amateur Radio Operator with the call sign of VK4FFKZ.
Glenn Johns – Announcer
Cracking his first gig at 5RM in the Riverland in South Australia late last century, Glenn has travelled far and wide gaining experience across the width and breadth of this sunburnt country in regional and capital city markets. Suffice to say he has worked every state except WA over the past 32 years.
Before joining the reprobates in FNQ, he helped set up an English radio station on the Thai island of Phuket with a multi-national cast and completed a 9-month contract at 7XS in Queenstown on the west coast of Tasmania – he is still thawing out.
Brendan Chatham – Announcer
Although Brendan is quite new to radio, he has lived and breathed music for decades, playing in bands up and down the East Coast of Australia since the early 90’s. He joined the 4KZ team in April 2019 doing the After Sunset Show and the general Operations for 4KZ and KOOL FM. Since March 2020 Brendan has hosted the KOOL FM breakfast show, The Brekky Rap With Brendan.
He is currently still enjoying the shock of being paid to do something he loves.
Mick Hay – Announcer (Mareeba 4AM & Innisfail 4KZ)
Mick has worked casually in radio for 30 years at a number of stations including 4LM, 4GC and 4KZ whilst also working for Telstra.
He joined the 4AM team taking over the Breaky Show full time in July 2014. Mick enjoys living in tropical North Queensland after growing up in Innisfail and staying in areas like Thursday Island, Normanton, Mount Isa, Cairns and Mossman.
Andy Talbot – Announcer (Mareeba 4AM & Innisfail 4KZ)
Andrew could drive a radio studio before he was old enough to drive a car. Prior to working at 4AM and 4KZ he worked on radio in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Hobart and Launceston. He has also worked on Television in Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and internationally – though he prefers the intimacy of radio and serving the local community.
When not working and spending time with his sons, Andrew likes to read, improve his home studio and sleep at least 4 to 6 hours.
Matt Bridson – Announcers (Mareeba 4AM)
After he completing his senior year in 1978, Matt felt that radio was his calling. He started working for 4AM on a casual basis in 1980.
A year later, Matt was a fulltime employee. He presented fulltime up until 1999 and then continued on a casual role.
Matt can be heard every week day from 1pm – 4pm.
Greg Vuleta – Announcers (Innisfail 4KZ)
Greg is an Innisfail local and joined the announcing staff of 4KZ straight out of high school at the age of 17 in 1968 and came back to 4KZ in 1988.
Greg has officially retired but can be heard from time to time as a Prime Time Breakfast relief announcer.
